Update: The Greene House Inn is closed.
It is with strong mixed emotions that we are closing the Greene House Inn. Tony and Brendan have decided to move out of the area and the house is under contract for sale. We want to thank all of our guests over the last 7 years who have made this venture a joy. From Connecticut to Canada, from Iowa to Iceland, we have met so many great people and learned so much about our amazing world that we live in.
As we say to all our guests, we wish you continued safe travels.

Welcome to the Greene House Inn

A warm welcoming Inn located in the heart of the Central Leatherstocking region of New York State.

The Greene House Inn is a four bedroom, three bathroom home situated in the residential area of Fort Plain. Surrounded by other grand Victorian homes, it provides the visitor with a step back in time, with all the modern amenities. For more details on the accommodations, please see the Our Rooms page.

Why is the Greene House Inn red?

As one can tell by the spelling, the Greene House Inn is not named for the color green.
Instead it was named to honor the most famous former resident of the home, Nelson Greene.
Mr. Greene passed away on November 11, 1955 and his obituary can be found here.
In summary, Mr. Greene was an author, illustrator and editor. His most famous work, History of the Mohawk Valley: Gateway to the West 1614-1925, is a four volume research of the six counties that form the heart of the Mohawk Valley. It includes illustrations by Mr. Greene. Some of his non-published illustrations can be seen in the home.
We are happy to embrace this history and eager to share our knowledge as we continue to uncover it ourselves.

Your Hosts

Brendan Becker and Antonio Torres are your hosts.

They bought the home in 2015 with the intent to turning it into an Inn.

Tony is a Puerto Rico native who came to New York City over 30 years ago. Fluent in Spanish and English, he is a wonderful cook who finds the art of cooking a relaxing endeavor. Entering the home during one of Tony's cooking sessions can be a celebration of aroma and if so inclined, of the palette as well.

Brendan was born in Brooklyn, New York and grew up on Long Island. However, he's not the average "downstater," as he has been familiar with the Mohawk Valley for almost 30 years. One of his sisters moved to Mohawk, NY in 1985, followed by his parents part-time in 1986 and full-time in 1992, and another sister in 1999. Frequent visits to the area have allowed him to find great places to visit. He will always be searching out new adventures for our guests and new locations for dining in the area on the rare occasion that Tony isn't cooking.

Making sure that our guests are well taken care of both with good night's sleeps and happy stomachs are foremost with Tony and Brendan.
